Overview

The project addresses a key condition: a compact exhibition space hosting a highly diverse collection. LiFi becomes both a data transmission technology and a tool to organize space, enabling a clearer and more engaging visitor path.
LED lamps placed near artworks deliver multimedia content to visitors’ smartphones via app, simply by entering the light cone. The system combines lighting, indoor geolocation, and digital storytelling without adding physical clutter.

CHALLENGE

The main challenge was enhancing a vast collection within limited space, improving the relationship between visitors, artworks, and the exhibition path.
Accessibility and clarity for diverse audiences were also key, supported by integrated communication tools.

Solutions

The project introduces a LiFi-based path where each lamp activates dedicated content on visitors’ devices.
The system enables flexible indoor geolocation and dynamic storytelling through texts, images, videos, and infographics, including accessible audio content.

Results

The intervention created new ways to experience the museum, enhancing engagement and visibility through innovation.

A key outcome is the reopening of the Roman House, closed for over 20 years, now reintegrated into the visitor journey.
